Some temporary windows for the Rohr Aerotrain

I used Carrara Pro 5.1 to procedurally paint some random windows on the side. This is just a rough draft to get an idea of how things will look real quick.

The windows are darkened with some transparency added. I'll fine tune the generator values later.

The Aerotrain needs some details still.

Getting the window frames to smooth properly has become somewhat of a challenge. The poly-count is high enough already for this model, so I'll just paint the windows and doors on.

Here I've broken the model into two parts to better manage it and to add some color (this is one of three color schemes I'll be making for it). I also need to model the head and tail lights. And then there's a piece that goes in the front for the monorail and also the air intake grills I still need to add.

This Rohr Aerotrain is going to need some windows soon

Started work on the back and adjusted the front some.

I just realized this vehicle is 36 years old now.

The Rohr Aerotrain front is almost finished

Here is the front so far. I haven't done any work yet on the back.

The Rohr Aerotrain is shaping up

Cutting squares into smaller squares and then smoothing. Dragging lots of points around, too. Watching out for star/pole areas while trying to keep my polygons 4-sided. Just ignore any 5-sided ones you see.

I figure it was easier to model just one half and then weld two halves together later.

3D construction planning for Rohr's Aerotrain

I decided on using Hexagon 1.21 for modeling the basic 3D structure of the Rohr Aerotrain. I tried modeling it using NURBS in the past. But I couldn't get surface fillets to flow the way I had hoped they would. So this time around I'll be using polygons with subdivision.

My next 3D model to build

I thought I would make a 3D model of the Rohr Aerotrain. It seems like it would be a fun project to do.

ADDED: One idea is to use MatchMover to help introduce the CG Aerotrain into a film clip of a real scene.

Big Bertha from Total Annihilation

Being modeled in Amapi Pro 7.51 using NURBS.

This object can now be baked and exported into Vue Infinite 7.1 to be rendered in the Arm Commander scene.

The Arm Commander in the tropics (a.k.a Shore Duty)

Here's a Vue Infinite 7.1 scene of the Arm Commander model with more terrain and depth of field.

Le Corbusier's Grand Confort chair

The old Maxell commercial is still a favorite of mine.
I always thought the chair was the star in that.
